You can engage in your child’s learning at home and school in many ways. The school council provides advice on school matters and helps to strengthen the important relationship between schools, families and their communities. The council includes family members, school staff and community members.
The Johnsview Village School Council is a collaborative, cooperative, committed and involved group of parents and staff whose objective is to support the school in a variety of ways.
The members are partners in developing plans to enhance student achievement and act as ambassadors of public education throughout our community. They:
- advise administration on a variety of issues
- raise funds that directly benefit students through the purchase of manipulative materials and technology, as well as by providing funds for athletics, field trips, and other classroom activities
The desire for involvement has resulted in an active and supportive School Council. Members meet monthly. Exchange of information from the school’s administration and staff to council members and vice-versa is open and welcomed and topics such as curriculum, school budget, principal profile and school plan are discussed.
